A Hard Decision was made.

So recently I had to make a hard decision, and it was to not accept health insurance from my workplace.

Now before you start getting all heated about me not having health insurance, you have to understand that this is one of the hardest choices that I had to make this year.

One because I knew that I needed it, but I had a greater need.

That was being able to pay rent and bills.

Insurance took out at least $150 from my pay a month and my current job is like part-time hours. I wasn't able to get a full 80 hours every 2 weeks, and that was a bummer. So I made the choice to not get the company insurance, so I can get more money in my paycheck to pay for bills and make rent.

On that note, some will say, "Well you're Native American. Don't you get free health insurance anyways."

Yes, I am a Native American and I do get free Health insurance. Here's the thing though. I don't live on the reservation and so the free health care clinics and hospitals are not close by, They are 2 hours away at the most. The ones that are close by, I have to make an appointment and be registered in order to be seen(yes even for emergencies).

After having to go through a few frustrating scenarios like that one mentioned above.

I thought it would be wise to have health insurance to help pay for the medical stuff when I go to non-tribal clinics.

That did help, for when I needed to get seen right away and go to the pharmacy for medication.

But now I am going to have to be more careful than over, health-wise.

I know others are going to say, what about the government health insurance, ACHCCCS(that's my state's free government health insurance)? It's based on income. I always seem to make over the amount of income that is needed and I get declined the insurance.

I hate to refuse such good benefits, but at the moment rent and bills are more important for me.

And it cuts deeper than a paper cut on my hand.

This has been on my mind. And letting it out felt good.

So remember to Stay Creative and stay positve.
