This question has been on my mind ever since somebody has asked me this. Although this person will remain anonymous, but their words have stuck in my mind since they were trying to get to know me as a person.
And that is how this question popped up as I was talking to them about how I want to be an author, a writer. They asked "What inspires you?" "What inspires you to write what you write?"
"Where does your inspiration come from?"
. . . . . . . . .
I was speechless. How was I to answer such a profound question?
Their questions echoed in my mind, repeating over and over again...like I was stuck in a time loop.
I did answer, but it wasn't a good answer...to me at least, it wasn't.
My answer was cliché and normal?
They waited patiently for my answer, as my mind was trying to gather all the jumbled words together to form a coherent sentence, a decent response.
"I find it in music. I listen to music and it just comes, I get it from my life. And I don't know.."
Yes. My answer fell flat as they would say for such situations.
Ever since that night, that question has plagued my mind.
I've been searching for the answer to that question, so that when we meet again, I can answer that person truthfully. And thank them for making me think on what drives to me write and do what I do.
Inspiration is a tough thing to pinpoint for me. Everyone has that one thing that gives them that edge and they can say "Yes! My inspiration for my artwork, writing, films, or whatever is......."
So now I have new topic, a new challenge to rise up to. And that is to find what gives me inspiration.
If I were to meet this person again, then I would thank them. Thank them for giving me something new to focus on. I do hope that we will meet again.
So in that, what is your inspiration?
