Lessons in Dreams

So they say dreams carry messages, good and bad. That and it has lessons to teach you.

I have had 2 dreams stuck in my mind for quite awhile now. They both deal with my culture.

As I grew up my mom always told me "Learn your clans and you'll know who you are and where you come from." She also said "You must learn your language, because when you go out to the reservation, you'll be to understand if they are talking about you or what the conversation is saying."

In Navajo Culture you have 4 clans, you maternal, paternal, maternal grandma and paternal grandpa. By knowing these clans you know who you are and where you come from, you also know who is your family outside of your own blood.

Lol, but she didn't tell me that it will be hard to find a partner, I guess that's why I went with a Hopi.

Because of that my first two clans are the original clans that came into this world, and I am end being related to everyone.

Thanks mom.

So back to these two dreams that I was talking about.

The first dream that I remember was that I was in a place and with a group of people and they were all from different nations and introducing each other. I was walking around and I didn't recognize anyone in the meddle of people. I kept walking around until I bumped into a tall Navajo guy, and he looked down at me and asked for my name and clans.

For me I know my first two clans, but I always had a problem with my last two clans, because they were so hard for me tp pronounce.

In the dream I remember saying my first two clans and I believe I woke up after that.

My Lesson: Relearn all my clans.

The second dream was similar but it didn't involve clans. it involved my language.

Again I was amongst a crowd and everyone talking in Navajo. Of course in your dreams you can do things that you normally couldn't do in real life. So in this instance I could understand what the people were talking about.

But I can't remember what they were talking about when I woke up.

These dreams have kept me thinking that I need to learn my language or keep on learning my language and to learn all my clans.

Clans and culture, these are the things that I know little about since I grew up as a Christian. Because of that, I want to learn more about my culture and what it all entails.
