Rabbits

1/11/2017

With ears standing like stalks of corn

Tall and straight, reaching for the sky

They stand on this earth

Watching with wide round full eyes

Like the moon on a crisp, cloudless night.

They run and hop

Kicking up a mini dust storm

As they worm into their hole

As the huddle, looking like loaves of bread someone forget.

Only to be heard by a loud THUMP!

The earth trembles beneath your feet,

As their eyes look to you,

To give us humans a warning,

A reminder to:

Protect.

To love with earnest,

To be brave.

That they are more than just “pests”

They connect us deeper with their tunnels

To the truth of it all.

That these Rabbits are more than what they seem.
